Wildfire in Delvinë Injures Three People, Forces Evacuation of 2,000

On July 25, 2025, a wildfire near the southern Albanian town of Delvina injured three individuals and led to the evacuation of approximately 2,000 residents. The fire affected six villages, destroying a church and ten uninhabited houses. Firefighting efforts were bolstered by the deployment of two helicopters and around 60 soldiers from the Albanian Defense Ministry. The blaze’s intensity decreased in the evening, but the region continued to face challenges due to high temperatures and strong winds. This incident underscores the increasing vulnerability of the area to wildfires amid prolonged heatwaves.
