The Problem
A wildfire is a race against reporting time.
Most wildfires aren't caught by the flames themselves — they're caught by the smoke someone finally notices, or the call that finally comes in. In dry vegetation, that delay is the difference between a contained patch and a fire front that outruns the crews sent to stop it. Heat, wind, and terrain do the rest: fires spread fastest exactly when detection is slowest, overwhelming air quality, visibility, and the ecosystems and homes in their path.
Albania's 2025 fire season made the pattern hard to ignore — dozens of outbreaks in a single day, entire villages evacuated, and response teams arriving after a fire had already chosen its own direction. Ikarus exists to move that first alert earlier, from hours to minutes.
How Ikarus Works

Ground sensor mesh
Solar-powered field units read temperature, humidity, smoke particulates, and soil moisture on a continuous cycle.
NRT satellite data
Sentinel near-real-time passes cross-reference ground readings against thermal anomalies and NDVI vegetation stress.
Risk scoring
Combined data packets are scored against regional fire-weather indices to flag ignition risk before smoke is visible.
Direct notification
Landowners, partners, and response teams are notified directly — by region, by parcel, or by sensor.
